If you are like me, you are on a constant journey towards becoming your best self. I am not obsessed with my weight or having the perfect skin. Instead, I tend to focus more on feeding my body with the best nourishment, whether it be food or wholesome activities, in order to help me live this one life I have to the fullest. I want to be there for my children so I need to be my best self.
I have had a few bumps in my journey, but each time, it has led me to new and better information. I don’t trust Western Medicine as much anymore, and it angers me when doctors treat the symptoms instead of the root cause of illness. That is what led me to become proactive in my own health.
As of now, I try to adhere to guidelines of the Weston A. Price Foundation. They are based on the diets of traditional people the world over. This Web site is jam packed with great information. If you are not feeling your best and are looking to make a change in you life, start with your diet. Diet is not stressed nearly enough in America, but it is the main cause of almost every illness.
I also try to keep a clear mind using techniques from the great teacher, Eknath Easwaran. I have read a few of his books, including Strength in the Storm and Passage Meditation. Both were wonderful reads and I feel like I gained a lot of useful tools in handling everyday stresses. I also love reading books by Thich Nhat Hahn, who can bring the teachings of the Buddha into an easy to understand format. No matter what religion you subscribe to, it is always good to have a meditation practice!
Some other links to blogs and sites that I love to read include Birth Without Fear, the Nourished Kitchen, to name a few. I know I am not a doctor or anything more than an ordinary human, but I wanted to post these links on my site in case they can help one of you like they have helped me! The Internet can be a great tool towards better health if you know where to go. Feel free to contact me with any questions and best of luck on your journey!
